4th Annual Radiothon
 

A big thanks to all sponsors, donors and volunteers for making the 4th Annual Cape Breton Cares Radiothon a huge success!  Thanks to your generosity, $508,428.86 was raised in support of specialized services at the Regional Hospital.

“It seems almost impossible to believe that we could raise more than half a million dollars to support health care in Cape Breton,” said Foundation CEO,  Barbara Stead-Coyle. “It was an amazing 12 hours that would not have been possible without our generous supporters and the amazing support from all Cape Bretoners.”

In four years, the radiothon has raised more than $1.5 million to support specialized care at the Regional Hospital.

Money raised during this year’s radiothon will support the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, neonatal intensive care unit, pediatrics, the An Cala palliative care unit, renal dialysis unit, the Harriss emergency department, the intensive care unit and other priority areas of the hospital.

Radiothon sponsors include Cape Breton Radio, Bell Aliant, Cape Breton Credit Unions, the Cape Breton Post and Seaside Communications.

Thanks to BellAliant, for the first time, an online broadcast allowed radiothon supporters to listen to live interviews with patients, donors and staff at the Regional Hospital. Live interview coverage was provided by Seaside Communications.

Also, anyone who signed-up to become a monthly donor or for payroll deduction, was entered in a draw for two return tickets to anywhere West Jet flies, courtesy of West Jet. The lucky winner was Lisa MacDonald, an employee at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
