Sydney, NS— Beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 29 inspirational stories and community spirit will flood the airwaves on The CAPE 94.9, CJCB 1270 and MAX98.3 FM during the 4^th Annual Cape Breton Cares Radiothon for the CapeBreton Regional Hospital Foundation.. Donations to this year’s Radiothon will help purchase specialized medical equipment for departments throughout the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

“We are so grateful to everyone who has made a donation to past Radiothons and hope you will give generously to the 4^th Annual Cape Breton Cares Radiothon,” said Foundation CEO, Barbara Stead-Coyle. “Patients at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital rely on your support. Your donations help purchase the equipment our medical professionals need to provide every single CapeBretoner with the very best care.”

From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can tune your radio dial to either Max 98.3FM, CJCB 1270AM or the Cape94.9FMto listen and donate to the Cape Breton Cares Radiothon. If you’re able to drop by, there will be live entertainment and a barbeque outside of the Radio Building on Charlotte Street in Sydney all day.

Thanks to your support over the past three years, the Cape Breton Cares Radiothon has raised more than $1,000,000 to purchase new equipment for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, including:

• a new CT Simulator, linear accelerator and slide stainer for the Cape Breton Cancer Centre
• a new monitoring system for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
• pain pumps for the An Cala Palliative Care Unit
• a respite room for the Pediatrics Unit
• and funding to help patients who rely on the Cancer Patient Care Fund

Since 1991, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, in partnership with the community, has raised more than $15 million to purchase medical equipment that has dramatically reduced wait times and provided an increased menu of medical services here at home in Cape Breton.
