Sydney, NS – For the first time ever, people can log-on to www.BellAliant.net and be part of the fun and excitement of the Cape Breton Cares Radiothon. On September 29th from 6am to 6pm people can listen and watch live footage of the Cape Breton Cares Radiothon. The live radio broadcast from Cape Breton Radio will be coupled with live behind the scenes video coverage produced by Seaside Communications.

Coverage on www.BellAliant.net will feature live interviews with patients, donors and staff at the Regional Hospital. Also, live-streaming of Cape Breton Radio programming and video clips of the Hospital Foundation’s television show, Through Their Eyes, will air throughout the day.
A link to the Regional Hospital Foundation’s online donation page will also be featured on BellAliant’s website. Donations to this year’s Radiothon will help purchase specialized equipment for several departments throughout the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Thanks to the support of our community, in the past three years, the Cape
Breton Cares Radiothon has raised more than $1 million to purchase new equipment for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, including:
- a new CT Simulator, linear accelerator and slide stainer for the Cape Breton Cancer Centre
- a new monitoring system for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- pain pumps for the An Cala Palliative Care Unit
- a respite room for the Pediatrics Unit
- and funding to help patients who rely on the Cancer Patient Care Fund

Since 1991, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation in partnership with the community has raised more than $15M to purchase medical equipment that has dramatically reduced wait times and provided an increased menu of services – closer to home.

Golf For Dad – In Support of Prostate Cancer
Over the course of their lives, one in seven Canadian men will develop prostate cancer. And one in 27 of them, will die from it.
On June 8th, 2012, Golf for Dad – in support of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, will take place at The Lakes Golf Club, in Ben Eoin. Grab your favorite golf buddies and come out for a great golf day, all in support of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. Included in your package is a pre game reception the night before the tournament, lunch and a BBQ on the course with a full steak dinner to end the day.
All funds raised will be donated to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, in support of Prostate Cancer.

5th Annual Cape Breton Cares Radiothon!
The 5th Annual Cape Breton Cares Radiothon will take place on September 27th, 2012.
Last year, our community came together to raise more than $506,000 at the Cape Breton Cares Radiothon. Thanks to your support, we were able to purchase critical equipment and fund upgrades for departments throughout the Regional Hospital. Click here for more information on Radiothon.
