October 25th, 2011: Annual Pink at the Rink event raises more than $10,000 for Regional Hospital Foundation and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

Sydney, N.S. –On October 15th, the Screaming Eagles traded their regular jerseys for custom designed pink jerseys sponsored by Casino Nova Scotia in support of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Fans showed their support for the annual Pink at the Rink event and purchased more than $10,000 in raffle tickets to win one of 23 custom pink Jerseys worn by the players during the game.

“We are so grateful to the Screaming Eagles for choosing us to, once again, be part of this event,” says Barbara Stead-Coyle, CEO of the Regional Hospital Foundation. “In the past three years, this Pink at the Rink has raised more than $29,000 for the Regional Hospital Foundation and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. A big thanks to the Screaming Eagles, our volunteers, Casino NovaScotiaand everyone who purchased a raffle ticket.”

The game kicked-off with a puck drop by Regional Hospital Foundation Board Vice-Chair and breast cancer survivor, Patricia MacNeil, and Ron Crawley, Marketing Manager, Casino NovaScotia.

The proceeds from the raffle are split equally between the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The portion donated to the Regional Hospital Foundation will be designated to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre Patient Care Fund. This fund helps offset the financial difficulties related cancer by covering the cost of prescriptions, medical travel and other financial concerns for cancer patients.

Since 1991, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation in partnership with the community has raised more than $15M to purchase medical equipment that has dramatically reduced wait times and provided an increased menu of services – closer to home.

Golf For Dad – In Support of Prostate Cancer

 

Over the course of their lives, one in seven Canadian men will develop prostate cancer. And one in 27 of them, will die from it.

On June 8th, 2012, Golf for Dad – in support of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, will take place at The Lakes Golf Club, in Ben Eoin. Grab your favorite golf buddies and come out for a great golf day, all in support of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. Included in your package is a pre game reception the night before the tournament, lunch and a BBQ on the course with a full steak dinner to end the day. 

All funds raised will be donated to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, in support of Prostate Cancer.

The 5th Annual Cape Breton Cares Radiothon will take place on September 27th, 2012.
