Planned Giving

A planned gift can be as simple as a promise today to leave a gift in the future. Every gift, no matter the size, will make a difference.

Strategic charitable investments can provide you with important tax benefits now and in the future. Your gift will also give you the satisfaction of knowing that you are leaving a legacy for your family, friends and community by helping to provide better health care at the Regional Hospital.

Leaving a planned gift can be as simple as adding a clause in your Will or designating the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation as the beneficiary in your life insurance policy. Choosing the best option for you may require discussing your plans with your lawyer, financial advisor or insurance agent.

If you have already included a gift for the Regional Hospital in your will, please let us know so we can include you in our Caring for Cape Breton Legacy Society. If you would like to consider a gift but require more information, please contact Barbara by calling (902) 567-7752 or email foundation@cbdha.nshealth.ca.

The federal government has completely removed the capital gains tax owed on donations of publicly traded securities to registered charities. Donors can now make a significant donation without affecting their personal cash flow while receiving a tax receipt for the full donation amount.

All discussions with the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation are confidential and are completely without obligation. The information presented on this website is of a general nature only, and does not constitute legal or financial planning advice. Because estate and taxation laws are subject to change, prospective donors to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation are strongly encouraged to obtain legal, estate and/or financial planning advice prior to making a decision to contribute to the Foundation through its planned giving program.

In recognition of a planned gift Catherine Godwin left for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, the Patient Support Room in the Cancer Centre was named the Catherine Anne Godwin Patient Support Room.
