Your Donations Keep more Cape Bretoners Home for Care
When you trust the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation with your donations, you are helping purchase the equipment doctors and nurses need to provide the best care to their patients. You also increase the level of specialized services available at the Regional Hospital, such as cancer and palliative care.
Since 1991, thanks to the generosity of the community, more than $15 million has been raised to purchase equipment and complete enhancements to the Regional Hospital.
Some of the past projects our community has made possible include:
- The expanision of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, which now provides radiation therapy to 97% of cancer patient at home in Cape Breton
- The creation of the An Cala Palliative Care Unit, which is a comforting place for patients who need pain management or end of life care
- The purchase of a $600,000 state-of-the-art monitoring system for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which allows doctors and nurses to properly monitor the more 300 pre-mature and ill babies who rely on this Unit every year
- The purchase of a MRI and Bone Densitometer for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital
- The purchase of critical and specialized pieces of equipment for the Pediatrics unit, Renal Dialysis Unit, Harris Emergency Department and the Intensive Care Unit.

When you make a donation to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, you can trust that we are using your donations for the purpose you intended to provide better healthcare at the Regional Hospital.
A recent survey of several other charities revealed that the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation is one of the most efficient charities in Atlantic Canada.
In 2011, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation had total revenue of $3.45 million. Our direct expenses, including fundraising salaries and administration fees, were 22%. According to the Canada Revenue Agency, the industry standard is 35%.

Furthermore, when you designate your donation to a specific area in theRegional Hospital, like the Cancer Centre, 96 cents from each dollar you give is used for the purpose you intended.

Golf For Dad – In Support of Prostate Cancer
Over the course of their lives, one in seven Canadian men will develop prostate cancer. And one in 27 of them, will die from it.
On June 8th, 2012, Golf for Dad – in support of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, will take place at The Lakes Golf Club, in Ben Eoin. Grab your favorite golf buddies and come out for a great golf day, all in support of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. Included in your package is a pre game reception the night before the tournament, lunch and a BBQ on the course with a full steak dinner to end the day.
All funds raised will be donated to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, in support of Prostate Cancer.

5th Annual Cape Breton Cares Radiothon!
The 5th Annual Cape Breton Cares Radiothon will take place on September 27th, 2012.
Last year, our community came together to raise more than $506,000 at the Cape Breton Cares Radiothon. Thanks to your support, we were able to purchase critical equipment and fund upgrades for departments throughout the Regional Hospital. Click here for more information on Radiothon.
This 12-hour long event is the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation’s biggest and most exciting event. And it is all thanks to your support!
