SYDNEY The Mabel MacDougall Volunteer of the Year Award, created by the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, will recognize a volunteer in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who demonstrates outstanding commitment to the programs, services and patients of the Regional Hospital.
Mabel MacDougall was a founding member of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Auxiliary and remained active selling tickets, holding yard sales and bake sales, and charming loonies and toonies out of everyone she met until she passed away in June 2011.
âMy mom was generous, dedicated and loved volunteering in any way she could,â says Cindy Anthony, daughter of the late Mabel MacDougall. âHer hard work and commitment had a significant impact on patients over the years and she would be so honored by this award in her name.â
The volunteer of the year is a person who has gone above and beyond in the line of volunteering for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. This person has been volunteering in the Regional Hospital for at least two years and has shown exceptional dedication, commitment and compassion.
Last year, the recipients of the Mabel MacDougall Volunteer of the Year Award were two outstanding and dedicated volunteers, Stasia Digou and Jackie Lanthier.
